'I couldn't imagine a more beautiful and inspiring setting.' Stuart, July 2012
'The French Retreat was exactly as I had envisaged and hoped for - tranquil, rural, relaxed. The Airstream was fabulous and really comfortable, Sara had thoughtfully stocked the fridge, the shower was hot and the coffee machine was a wonderful touch. The natural pool was beautifully cooling on the baking hot days and just to listen to the water trickling and the various sounds from the woods and surrounding meadows was incredibly calming. It was such a tranquil environment that I couldn't bear to shatter the tranquility by playing my music. I have been describing it as "a complete detox, but without giving up the alcohol"! It's not just for writers but for anyone who needs a bit of solitude and to remove themselves from their everyday 'bubble'. If we could have stayed longer (like forever) we would have done.' Anneliese, Aug 2012
'We had the most amazing time at the French Retreat. Everything surpassed our expectations, even after seeing all of the lovely photographs and reading other reviews. Everything was brilliant from the tastefully kitted out airstream through to the wonderful fresh food, peacefully located hammock, unlimited use of the citroen 2CV, the coffee and the wine! And that list doesn't include all of the other frankly magical elements. We've never experienced such thoughtful and generous hospitality as we did from Sara, Stephane and Grace. We both agreed that we'd experienced a slice of paradise. We didn't want to leave and we hope to be back one day! Thank you!!' Mandy & Joe, April 2013
'We wanted to say a massive thank you for making us feel so welcome at the French Retreat. We had the most magical anniversary and spent the weekend walking around with ridiculous grins on our faces. Checking the writers cabin to collect our parcels of food, enjoying Molly, Poppy and Gilbert's company, hearing the crickets and the frogs in the evening whilst cooking alfresco and taking lemon for a spin with the top down were the absolute highlights. The little extras (the ridiculously comfy bed, the candles, the cosy throws, well organized DVDs and yummy treats) did not go unnoticed. We had no worries in the world, just full tummies and big grins. It’s the perfect gem of a getaway – we have never felt so sad to say goodbye to such a beautiful place. We have not been able to recommend it enough (whilst also selfishly wanting to keep it our secret).' Gem & Ian, May 2013
'We loved the concept provided so thoughtfully by Sara and Stephane. It surpassed our expectations and was a real holiday. The Airsteam and its furnishings are very stylish and surprisingly comfortable. Even the on-board shower and WC is adequate for a large man. The ambiance of the setting is amazing and the swimming hole is a real pleasure especially with the orchestral frogs. We even saw a Golden Oriel. What a fabulous spot. We will go again.'
